Challenge

A hyper-growth tech-enabled tourism platform had recently expanded its digital marketing budget by several multiples. Despite this, bookings showed no improvement, raising serious concerns about the performance of both sales and marketing departments.

Actions Taken

Holistic Sales Review

Conducted a comprehensive review of the sales department, including HOD mentoring, staff coaching, process mapping, customer journey mapping, and development of sales dashboards.

Hypothesis-Free Data Analysis

Performed a deep dive into the sales data, investigating relationships between staffing levels, response times, messaging, and conversions to find the operational sweet spot. Initial results showed no clear correlation.

Root Cause Investigation

Extended analysis upstream to website traffic versus bookings, again finding no statistically significant correlation.

Rigorous Validation

Applied multiple analytical approaches, including testing the raw data with five independent AI models, all independently confirming no causative link between website traffic and revenue. While digital marketing spend did correlate with website traffic, there was no evidence it was leading to more bookings. Further analysis ruled out time-delay effects.

Stakeholder Engagement

Presented findings to the Global GM, Head of Growth, and marketing team, challenging them to disprove the analysis. This was especially important as I had already suspected the marketing approach was wrong and wanted to rule out potential bias.

Board-Level Presentation

Delivered a clear, data-backed case highlighting operational and financial inefficiencies, recommending immediate reallocation of spend.

It showcases the ability to identify hidden inefficiencies, validate findings across multiple methods, and influence senior stakeholders to realign strategy, directly improving profitability and capital allocation.
